Look, I'm probably gonna have a lot to say about this movie and this will most likely include major spoilers for what is going in this cult and the strange occurrences therein and, really, the surrounding area.

When Benson and Moorehead decide to get back to their roots after directing the MCU's Moon Knight Disney+ series, I hope they decide to revisit the multiverse of madness that is The Endless. The story lives you with a "hint" at a potential third movie to wrap it all up. The Matryoshka doll-like mystery unpacks itself as the movie plays itself out like the creeptastic signposts "help" you along the way. It's not a requirement - it probably still plays like an interesting sub-plot. It is best going into this blind - in fact, don't even watch the trailer at is one big spoiler reel.Īnd if you haven't yet, watch their debut film Resolution which literally wraps right into this.

It brought back all kinds of memories of summer camps, car camping, and drinking micro-brews under the So Cal night sky with my cult homies (that last part didn't actual happen).Īaron and Justin, real-life brothers, play what could be real versions of themselves as they bicker and argue like normal siblings with selective memory of past events. This sci-fi cosmic mind-twister is so authentic with it's Southern Californian foothill setting that I felt like I was part of the titular UFO doomsday cult. Their fourth Synchronic, populated with marquee actors and made with a crap more money, was decent but pales next to The Endless. I think The Endless, their third of four movies, is their best. Please put writer/director bros Justin Benson and Aaron Moorehead back in indie-filmmaker jail because when they have little-to-no budget they make fantastic shit.
